Welcome
Kindergarten Families! We, Kindergarten teachers, hope you are having a
wonderful summer! As you turn the calendar to August your thoughts may
be turning toward the beginning of Kindergarten. Here is some
information you may find helpful as you ease into the coming year. This
information pertains to all Harrington Kindergartners. In addition,
families will receive letters from their individual teachers containing
more information mid to late August.
All
Kindergartners will need:
- A roomy backpack that s/he is able to open
and close: We encourage and eventually expect independence in
managing backpacks and clothing.
- Sneakers to be worn every Gym day.
Your teacher will let you know your Gym days once school begins.
- A snack and drink every day: We do
offer a beverage program. You should be receiving information from Food
Services in August.
- Appropriate outdoor clothing: We
take children out every day to play unless it is raining or very, very
cold. Also we expect all children to go outside. After an illness, if
your child is not well enough to play outside, please keep him/her home
another day.
- To be registered in the office and submit
the required health forms: Any questions about these forms,
please call the school office 781-860-0012.
More information…
- Changes in dismissal: Please either
send a note with your child or call the school office. Please do not
rely on email or leaving a message on a teacher’s answering machine for
these important changes.
- Illness: If you child is home with
strep throat, chicken pox or other highly contagious disease, it’s
helpful if you notify the school nurse.
- Birthdays and other celebrations: We
do enjoy celebrating special days but according to Lexington School
policy food is not part of our celebrations. Your teacher will send
home more information on how special days are celebrated in your
child’s classroom. We ask the children to refrain from talking about
birthday parties at school (unless every child in the class is invited
to the party).
Thank you!
